Christian Bale Leaving After Questioning
Christian Bale has enjoyed enormous success from his latest film, The Dark Knight, with a record-shattering 158.4 million dollar box office debut. Outside of the limelight, however, his personal life has not been going quite as smoothly.
The 34-year-old actor is being accused of assaulting his mother and sister on Sunday at the Dorchester Hotel located in London. The two women went to local police Monday to report the incident, which resulted in Bale's arrest on Tuesday.
British tabloids claim that Bale was not arrested on Monday to allow the European premiere of The Dark Knight to go as planned. Bale's publicist has sternly stated Bale stands by his complete and total innocence. "Mr. Bale, who denies the allegation, cooperated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police," his publicist says.
Specific details about the assault are unavailable. The police station has declined to give detailed comments on the accusations, and neither his sister nor his mother have publicly stated what they accuse Bale of doing. His sister simply replied "it's a family matter" when she was contacted in her home.
