MTV to remake Rocky Horror

MTV to remake Rocky Horror Tim Curry, in his legendary role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1975 original.

It has been reported that MTV has plans to rape cult classic, Rocky Horror Picture Show, reports Variety magazine. Met with the news was the unanimous cry of "why can't they just leave well enough alone?!".

Lou Adler, executive producer of the original film which is untouchable and should never be remade, has teamed up with BermanBraun & Fox Television Studios for the rendition. The two hour telepic will keep to the original screenplay written by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien, but may also include music not featured in the original.

No casting decisions have been announced, but the film is anticipated to be shown by Halloween 2009. At this point, fans don't know which is scarier - Halloween, or the fact that MTV plans to turn a cult classic into a cash grab.

The original film, starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Meatloaf, has had fans doing the time warp at midnight screenings for over three decades. The film is still shown at theaters, and often to a packed audience. The film has raked in over $140 million at the domestic box office since it's release. The length of it's run in cinemas, which is over thirty years, combined with it's box office gross, is unparalleled by any other film. The cult classic has earned itself a devoted fan base, which is already voicing strong opposition and displeasure at the idea of an MTV remake.
