"Half-Blood Prince" Movie Postponed
A scene from the movie.
Warner Bros. have just announced that the new Harry Potter movie's release date will be changed from November 21, 2008 to July 17, 2009.
This shocking decision is likely to anger plenty of fans. Even though the trailers have already been released, the decision is final. The cause is said to be because of the recent writer's strike, (which set their scripts back) or the fact that they will make more money during the summer. Supposedly, more families are likely to watch it in the summer as opposed to the fall or winter. They used last summer's blockbuster ("Order of the Phoenix" ) as an example.
Though the "Deathly Hallows" movies are said to stay at the same release date, it's still another year to wait. No word on J.K. Rowling's opinion.
A possible good thing to come out of this for the Warner Bros. is increased fan anticipation, though they seem not to notice the increased fan anger. Perhaps they haven't been in the receiving end of a hardback HP book.
Anyway, in less than a year the new "Potter" movie will be out, and hopefully as good as the book.
