Shopping On The Net

Shopping On The Net An on-line shopping scene

Internet shopping, more trouble than it is actually worth. I am always preaching at the lazy folk, moaning that they should go about their duties more pro actively instead of sitting on the couch all day. But what did I go and do the other day? Instead of just popping out to town I parked myself in front of the computer ready to do some on-line purchasing, bypassing the busy streets and crowded till lines. How I missed them.

According to recent statistics, the UK Internet shopping market is worth an estimated £24.1bn with over 20 million of us shopping on-line. The Internet is, after-all, famous for its "cheaper deals." I, on the other hand, believe it takes the fun out of shopping, let alone the hassle and stress, I have personally, endured .

Anyhow, after browsing and making a final selection of the goods that I wished to redeem, the lengthy process of filling out pages and pages of details commenced. Name, age, hobbies.... and so on. After confirmation of my purchase I was enlightened as to, if I so wished, to track my order on line. The web-page helpfully told me how to go about this. After trying to login several times I was told I had entered the wrong email and/or password. Fury took over, I had, in fact, incorrectly typed in my email at the initial detail interrogation stage. Upon realizing my mistake I rang the helpline, only to be put through more grueling interrogation (press 1 for this, press 2 for that) to gain access to my "track" an order number was needed. Me being me did not note this down and therefore I was stuck. Ringing the office was not an option, it was past 7 o'clock and no one would be there. I had now no contact with the outside world and to when my purchase items would be delivered.

Shock horror I hear you say, another pointless article. I guess the best thing to do is sit and wait for my parcel to arrive. The moral of the story is... next time you wish to purchase your on-line goods, don't. It is much quicker and frustrating-free to pop down to your local high-street store.
