Beth Ditto On “I Kissed A Girl" Beth Ditto

Beth Ditto is the lead singer of the three-piece American indie rock band ‘The Gossip’. The band hit success with their third album ‘Standing in the Way of Control’.

Beth, a lesbian told in this month’s Attitude magazine that the lyrics of Katy Perry’s worldwide hit ‘I Kissed a Girl’ are offensive to gay culture.

She described the song as a, “Boner dyke anthem for straight girls who like to turn guys on by making out or, like, faking gay.”

Ditto added, “I hate her. She’s offensive to gay culture, I’m so offended. She’s [Katy Perry] just riding on the backs of our culture, without having to pay any of the dues and not being actually lesbian or anything at all. She’s on the cover of a fucking gay magazine.”

Katy Perry has replied to Beth’s comment saying that “I’ve learned in the past year that one artist should never insult another artist’s music - it’s tacky.”

Perry also added, “I don’t want to get into a slanging war with anybody so I don’t want to say anything bad about her, but I’m not impressed”, she told The London Paper.
