New Babyshambles Album On Its Way

New Babyshambles Album On Its Way Peter Doherty playing Glastonbury 2009

In an interview with a French radio station ‘Inter’ on July 6th, Pete revealed that Babyshambles’ guitarist Mik Whitnall is writing all of the music for the album so Doherty could focus on the lyrics.

“Even as we speak, at this very moment in London somewhere, Mr Michael Whitnall - my erstwhile guitarist and song writing partner in Babyshambles - is getting the demos together for our new album”. Doherty explained in the interview. “He’s got most of the tunes ready, I’ve just got to write the lyrics now”, he added.

When the reporter asked whether Stephen Street would produce the album - as he has with Doherty’s solo record ‘Grace/Wastelands’ and Babysahmbles last album, ‘Shotters Nation’ released in 2007 - Doherty answered: “I think so, he’s a geezer.”

Pete also talked about his recent arrests (he was arrested by the police on two occasions in June, both relating to drugs).

“I’ve just come out of a bit of a car crash,” he explained. “I got nicked in England, arrested again, and since then I’ve had to go to rehab. Since then, I’m clean - the last 11 days I’ve been clean for the first time in quite a long time.”

He added, before trailing off, “I have to address my creative stands soon, because I haven’t written a song whilst not under the influence of something for... This is a beautiful book by the way.”

Other than that, Doherty also talks about his dancers that always appear on stage while he sings “Last Of the English Roses”, his solo album and possibly even buying a flat in Paris.
