And the VMA Goes To...
Kanye steals Taylor's thunder...
On September 13th 2009, our favourite celebrities donned themselves in their best, although sometimes questionable outfits and took to the red carpet at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Why you may ask? Well, it was the MTV Video Music Awards, of course. Possibly one of the most anticipated music award shows of the calender.
Let's start with the awards.
- Video Of The Year - Beyonce, Single Ladies
- Best Female Video - Taylor Swift, You Belong With Me
- Best Hip Hop Video - Eminem, We Made You
- Best Breakthrough Video - Matt and Kim, Lessons Learned
- Best Male Video - T.I feat. Rhianna, Live Your Life
- Best Pop Video - Britney Spears, Womanizer
- Best Rock Video - Green Day, 21 Guns
- Best Video (That Should Have Won A Moonman) - Beastie Boys, Sabotage
- Best New Artist- Lady Gaga
The 2009 VMA's also featured many fantastic preformances from Green Day, Lady Gaga, Muse, Taylor Swift, Jay-Z and perhaps the most unforgettable, a stunning tribute to Micheal Jackson, preformed by his sister Janet.
Now on to the gossip, perhaps the biggest shock of this years VMAs was the lovely Taylor Swift accepting her ward for Best Female Video. Not that she didn't deserve it, no, what was shocking was that Kanye West thought it was appropriate to join her onstage, and claim "Beyonce had the best video of the decade".
However, this event also led to one of the sweetest moments of the night. Later, when Beyonce won the VMA for Best Video of the Year, she invited Taylor Swift back onstage to have her moment.
And that is all the VMA excitment until next year.
