Toše Proeski - Two Years
Toše Proeski
Toše Proeski has been nicknamed Macedonia's Angel. He's been called the "Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson" of the Balkans. The government gave him the title "Honorable citizen of Macedonia" and he was also given a state funeral that was attended by fellow Macedonian singers (also some Serbian) and obviously his close friends or family. Almost all of the countries in the Balkans, especially Macedonia, are organizing special events to remember him.
Toše was born in Prilep, Macedonia, but raised in Kruševo, Macedonia. He grew up listening to music and at the age of 12, he was discovered and participated in a song festival in Skopje, Macedonia. He career grew and grew, and he quickly rose to fame. He was also chosen to participate in Eurovision, in which he grew even more famous. He created many albums in Macedonian and a certain amount in Serbian. He was also one of the three people to have a completely sold out concert in the Beograd stadium in Serbia, which was on 14 February, 2007: his last big concert.
When the day of his death came, everyone was shocked. Everyone was asking the same question, "How could this young angel of ours be dead?" Chaos erupted and everyone was crying. His concerts and music were shown on Macedonian and Serbian television non-stop for weeks, almost months, and so was his music on Macedonian and Serbian radio shows.
Although he's been dead for two years exactly, he will always be remembered and loved! Macedonians officially claim the 16th of October as an official day of mourning.
