Morrissey Collapses Onstage During Concert

Morrissey Collapses Onstage During Concert Saturday's concert was cancelled after the singer collapsed onstage.

Whilst performing at the Oasis Leisure in Swindon, singer Morrissey was taken to hospital having collapsed after his opening song, This Charming Man.

Eyewitnesses say he was looking "drawn", "wincing" whilst "straining" to sing. As the song drew to a close he collapsed onto the stage and was carried off by two of his fellow band-members. After a wait of around half an hour, the audience of more than 1,000 were informed that Morrissey was seriously ill and had been removed from the building.

The spokesperson of the Great Western Ambulance Service was quoted as saying: "Just after 9pm we got a call to a 50-year-old man who was reported to be reported to be suffering from respiratory problems and was unconscious. We sent a paramedic in a doubled-crewed ambulance. When they arrived they found a conscious patient who was not feeling well at all. They made an initial assessment and took him to the Great Western Hospital for further assessment."

The 50-year-old has already been forced to cancel a number of concerts and appearances this year due to "unspecified illness".

The hospital's spokesperson said now stated Morrissey's condition as "stable".
