Beijing Olympic Singer Scandal

Beijing Olympic Singer Scandal Lin Miaoke

Another Beijing Olympics scandal has come to light today. During the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, an international audience was awestruck by the singing ability of a nine year old girl, Lin Miaoke. Later the day after the ceremony a news headline was published that read: "Tiny singer wins heart of nation." But that's not even half of the story.

Recently Chen Qigang, musical director of the Olympic ceremonies was interviewed by a major Chinese radio station. During the interview Chen released some startling information.

Originally the member of the Politburo, the highest ranking body in the ruling communist party, who was overseeing the preparations for the Olympic opening ceremony was unimpressed by Lin Miaoke's singing. So representatives were sent out to find a better child singer for the ceremony. The representatives found 7 and a half year old Yang Peivi. Yang had a absolutely beautiful voice but the Politburo member and other ceremony supervisors agreed that see wasn't 'good looking enough' to sing in the ceremony.

The Olympic ceremony supervisors said her teeth were too crooked and she had a chubby looking face. Because of this the supervisors made a decision that would later shock people world wide. They recorded the voice of 7 year old Yang Peivi and played it back during the ceremony while Lin Miaoke was singing making it appear as though the 'prettier girl' was the one with the wonderful voice.

Chen Qigang claims it was in 'National interest' and 'was meant to up hold China's flawless image.' Chen also stated that: "When Lin was singing, she may not have realized that it was not her own voice."

When this scandal came to light people world wide were outraged. Even many Chinese people began to speak out against the actions their government had taken during the ceremony. Hu Zibo, reporter for a Chinese new website was quoted on saying: "This is the number one scandal of the Olympics and it will certainly shock the entire of the world."
