Man Charged After Hoax Bomb Scare Greyhound Bus

The Greyhound coach was traveling along the Pennant Hills road on its way to Sydney from Brisbane at 8:30 AM (AEST) today when a man attacked the driver in an attempt to save himself and the passengers form a ‘bomb’.

"It's believed an altercation arose between a 34-year-old male passenger and male bus driver, with the man alleging there was a suspicious package on board," police said.

The man who has been detained by police is said to have grabbed the steering wheel of the bus and tried to steer it into the path of the oncoming traffic of Pennant Hills Road, without a care for the driver or the other 26 passengers on board.

The police report said that "The driver attempted to stop the bus and was subsequently involved in a minor collision with another car."

No one was hurt during the escapade and searches by police and sniffer dogs found no traces or evidence of the alleged bomb. The mans name or comment have not been released and the reasoning behind his panic has not yet been uncovered fully.

He has as yet been charged with three accounts of bomb hoax and threat, been refused bail and is due to appear at Hornsby Local Court tomorrow.
