Bus Bomb Hoax Continued

Bus Bomb Hoax Continued Sniffer Dog in action.

Kerry Brown aged 34 appeared at Hornsby Local Court today following the incident yesterday where his actions resulted in a bus heading directly into oncoming traffic.

All traffic on the Pennant Hill Road in Sydney’s northwest was delayed during peak hour for more than 2 hours after the incident.

Police claim that Brown who is a Queenslander lunged at the driver whilst traveling from Brisbane to Sydney, the two men struggled before he said there was a bomb on the bus. The driver managed to gain control of the bus which struck a car before coming to an abrupt stop across the median strip.

The police bomb squad and sniffer dogs were called in but no explosive devices were found on the bus or in the passengers' luggage.

Brown appeared in court today and pleaded guilty to the assault and to giving false information, however he pleaded not guilty to making a threat to destroy or damage a vehicle.

He was recommended for psychiatric evaluation by the court and is in jail (his sentence unknown) and he has as yet not applied for bail. His treatment will take place whilst he is serving his sentence and will possibly continue after he is released.

He is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court on October 23 for his full sentence to be finalized.
